What transitions occur when a couple is married? 

    Some main transitions include the wedding, initial marriage, introduction of children, and inclusion of additional children. Some that I would add to this list include the decision to have children, buying your first home, moving, and retiring. 

    Marriage introducing a new intimacy than any other relationship. Even couples who have previously lived together note a difference after marriage. 

 Why do people get married? Tax benefits, love, a need for intimacy's, social expectations, what do you think? My husband and I were married last April, 2020. We had a very unique COVID-wedding. 

    Our experience was unique because we probably planned about five different weddings as plans and regulations were constantly changing and impossible to predict. We ended up having a small ceremony followed by a drive-by hello from close friends. It was definitely not the Pinterest wedding I had previously planned, but it was amazing. It was low-key, the simplicity of the day allowed us to focus on the fact that we were joining our lives. Most wedding days seem to be centered around flowers and food and fiends. 

    Since that day we have gone through so much together as we have gotten used to living together and having a spouse. It has not been easy, but we have both learned so much and grown together. We decided to marry because we love one another and want to be together forever. Marriage is not for everyone...


According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, marriage is "the state of being united as spouses in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law". It is also referred to as "wedlock" or an intimate or close union. What is marriage to you?

Have you ever heard the statistic that %50 of married couples in the US get divorced? This statistic came from a single study and has happened to catch on as a popular statistic. This happens quite often, especially as we believe what we want to hear.  So, how do you know if it is true? You must first come into it with an opened mind. Get to work

We had a small garden that needed frequent weeding and picking throughout the summer. Once we moved to a new house that needed a lot of yardwork so that summer was full of weeding a steep hill and putting down bark. My parents have a boat which means we get to have lots of fun, but it also requires lots of work to keep it in good condition. We strongly believe that everyone pitches in. With dinner we each tackle a dish and help set up and wash dishes after. Chores and work can be annoying, but this brings families together.   This is my last blog post! Thank you for anyone who has read throughout these past few months. I have been able to share a lot of what I have been learning about family relations. First, I’ll share what I have learned this week and then do a quick recap.             This week has been on divorce and reestablished families. Why do people divorce? Some common reasons are because the partners simply cannot stand one another, finances, and selfishness. A common belief is that cheating is a common divider in relationships, but most couples who deal with this actually end up working through it.
